Contrary to popular belief, cats don’t actually groom themselves by the traditional definition-they lick themselves. Grooming involves soap and water. Similar to how you wouldn’t lick your fingers after gardening before you eat dinner, we don’t consider licking the same was grooming.
We wash cats at the start of every grooming service in accordance to the standard of the National Cat Groomers Institute of America to strip the grease, dirt, and oils from their fur so that we can easily and more comfortably remove the dead hair built up that causes shedding and matting.
